In 2003 David commissioned North London architects UllmayerSylvester to design a low cost summerhouse and studio for the bottom of his Hackney garden. The building has consequently been featured in national and international press, magazines and on TV, and has won several design awards. Over nine hundred people visited the Summerhouse when it was opened to the public during London Open House in 2004 and 2005.
